Elphie Goes Trick or Treating

Elphie Goes Trick or Treating
by Hagit R. and Or Oron

About the Book:

Elphie wants to dress as a tiger-elephant, but he’s also scared from the image he sees in the mirror. Phante doesn’t care. She just wants to go trick or treating before all the good candies are gone. But then Elphie gets all the special treats and Phante is upset. Fortunately, Elphie has a superpower that makes everything OK. Phante has a superpower too. Read the book and find out how she helps Elphie overcome his fears.

This Halloween story emphasizes good values like kindness and courage and makes them a superpower. Read the book and teach your kids that the sweetness of friendship lasts longer than that of a sugar-coated candy.

My Review:

Elphie Goes Trick or Treating is a cute Halloween story that teaches kindness, friendship, acceptance, and courage. Elphie and Phante have a unique Halloween adventure together. Kids often see things differently to adults, and that is certainly true of Elphie and Phante. I enjoyed the story more, because I didn't know what to expect from them.

Amanda giggled when Elphie told his mom what he thought about his tiger-elephant costume. Then she noticed that Elphie is standing at the mirror with his hands and legs down, but his reflection has his hands and one leg up. We both figured that this would scare him! Amanda liked how both characters responded differently to the same situations and how they handled each other. This picture book is perfect for boys and girls ages 3 - 7.
